An honest guide's bar for a good day is moving fish — follows, hot fish at the boat, maybe one eat; a fish landed is a genuinely good day and a giant is a season memory, because the guide cannot change the density of one adult per several hectares. What you are actually buying is compressed learning: boat control on spots you would never find, figure-8 coaching on real followers, hook-set and net choreography when it counts, and release handling done right. Red flags run the other way — anyone promising numbers, or fishing warm water past the 26–27 °C (79–81 °F) line, is selling something other than muskie fishing.
