Offset hooks: EWG, finesse

The extra-wide gap is the all-round Texas hook: the gap leaves room for a thicker bait to fold out of the way on the set. In finesse or hybrid wire it covers most bass fishing on normal tackle.

Item	Detail
Shape	Short Z-step, extra-wide gap, point in line with the eye
Wire	Finesse to hybrid
Sizes	4–5" (10–13 cm) bait → 2/0–3/0; 6–8" (15–20 cm) → 3/0–4/0
Baits	Stick baits, flukes, small creatures, craws, tubes, lizards
Rigs	Texas rig, weightless stick bait, Texposed, drop shot near cover
Line / rod	FC 10–16 lb; M–MH casting
Caveat	The longer wire flexes more, and the point lining up with the eye can cost fish on a slim bait

Size the gap to the bait's thickness, not its length.
