How far do muskie travel through the seasons?

Lake fish are mostly short-haul movers — spawning bay to summer range to fall structure, often within a few kilometers — but the exceptions are spectacular. River and great-water muskie tracked on the St. Lawrence, Ottawa River, and Green Bay systems log seasonal round trips of 20–50 km (12–31 mi) between spawning marshes and open-water feeding ranges, swum with startling speed and repeated annually on the same routes. The pattern is the point: movements are traditional, not random, so a mid-river bite that dies did not end — it relocated along a line you can learn. On big connected waters, think migration corridors; on kettle lakes, think neighborhoods.
