Milfoil: Specific holding positions
Separate over-the-canopy chasers from under-the-canopy sitters
When the grass top is at 3 ft and the bottom at 8 ft, use a moving bait in the 2–3 ft zone to locate chasers; for holes, soft plastics need to go through the top into the area below. Try both presentations to learn whether fish are active on top or tucked inside.
As the sun rises, first check holes on the shade side; when wind or current hits the grass edge, check the flanks of points. Fish aren’t always in the thickest stuff; where the grass thins and the bottom hardens may be better ambush spots. If bites concentrate one to two meters outside the grass edge, maintain casting distance and don’t push the boat into the strike zone.
