Milfoil: Common mistakes and adjustments
Using one routine for all grass
Dragging a search bladed jig into the thick middle, or endlessly punching heavy weight along open edges, can both be mismatches. First define whether you’re covering the top, the outside wall, or the inner holes, then choose a way to pass through accordingly.
Blindly bombing the same hole after catching one may make you miss nearby small pockets with the same shape. Record whether bites come before entering the grass, after clearing the grass, or on the fall, and use that sequence to find the next spot. If neither effective layer produces, check forage or switch grass sections—not just green to black soft plastics.
How to validate the next round
Return to Specific holding positions and pick just one target you haven’t effectively covered. Record boat position, landing spot, bite phase, and the day’s conditions; rerun the same line, then go to another similar piece to compare. If you can’t reproduce it, keep the observation without rushing to declare a pattern.
