Punch Rig: What it is

The heavy end of the family: a 3/4-1.5 oz (21-43 g) tungsten bullet pegged tight (often with a punch skirt), a 4/0 heavy-wire offset flipping hook snelled to 50-65 lb braid, and a compact, low-resistance bait — a 3-4 in (7.5-10 cm) beaver-style craw or small creature. The whole rig is built to fall through a hydrilla, milfoil, hyacinth or duckweed mat in one motion and land under it, where the biggest, least-pressured largemouth in the lake sit in the shade.
