Where do muskie go when the weeds start dying in fall?
Dying weeds stop producing oxygen and stop holding bait, so the summer weed program dissolves from the inside out. Fish slide to the last green weed — deep cabbage that stays alive longest — and onto hard structure that replaces it: rock bars, steep breaks, points with access to deep water. The other pillar is prey migration: suckers and remaining panfish pull toward main-lake structure, and muskie shadow them. Cooling through roughly 15 down to 10 °C (59 to 50 °F) is the transition band; find the greenest weeds or the first rock adjacent to them and you have found the fish.
