What is a pike's daily rhythm?
Classic crepuscular-plus: activity peaks at dawn and dusk when ambush light favors the predator, but pike stay meaningfully active through the day — much more so than walleye — especially under cloud, wind-broken surfaces, or in stained water that keeps light levels "dusky" all day. Weather often overrides the clock: a warm front after cold, or the first hours of a falling barometer before a storm, can switch on midday feeding that outshines both twilights. Under ice the rhythm inverts toward bright midday, when the most light penetrates.
