Why is the weed edge such a magnet for pike?

Because it solves the ambusher's whole problem in one line on the map: concealment on one side, open firing lanes on the other, and a steady procession of prey using the same edge as a travel highway. Add the physical perks — cabbage and coontail pump oxygen by day, shade the water, and hold the perch and shiners pike eat — and the deep weedline in 2–5 m (7–16 ft) becomes the single highest-percentage structure in most pike lakes. Fish it like a street, not a wall: the inside turns, points, and gaps in the edge are the intersections where ambushers sit.
