Do scents and attractants on lures make a difference for pike?

Less than for bass or catfish, honestly. A pike's strike decision on a moving lure is made in a fraction of a second on visual and lateral-line cues — the fish has usually committed before scent could physically reach it. Where scent plausibly earns its keep is on slow presentations: a dead-sticked soft bait, a jig paused on bottom, anything a pike has time to inspect, follow, and mouth. Put your faith in profile, flash, and speed changes first; treat scent as a cheap tiebreaker on the slowest baits, not a difference-maker on the fast ones.
