Are scent products worth it for crappie?
They are a modest, honest edge — not magic. Scent does not pull crappie in from distance the way it can for catfish; what it does is mask unnatural odors (fuel, sunscreen, soft-plastic solvent) and make a fish hold the bait a beat longer, converting more of those subtle up-bites into hooked fish. The effect is largest in cold or stained water where inspection time is long, and smallest on fast, aggressive summer schools.
