Straight-shank hooks: Drop shot hook (Octopus hook)

The hook most American anglers mean by "drop-shot hook": a short shank, a round belly and an eye turned up off the shank. Makers call it an octopus hook because the round bend looks like an octopus's head; on a bass boat it is the finesse drop-shot hook, nose-hooked and tied so the up-turned eye stands the point out from the line. The extra-wide big sizes double as wacky hooks.
