How do I plan a walleye year at my latitude?

Build the plan from anchors, not dates. The anchors travel to any latitude: spawn at 6–10 °C (43–50 °F) right after ice-out; recovery and male bite for a few weeks after; summer program once water passes about 18 °C (64 °F); turnover trouble as the surface falls back through roughly 10–13 °C (50–55 °F); the trophy binge from there to ice-up; then the ice season with its dusk windows. At 50°N on the Canadian Shield that means an opener in mid-to-late May, a July of deep edges and night bites, ice by November, and hardwater until April; at 40°N in a US reservoir the same sequence starts in late winter and stretches a long, thermocline-dominated summer. Layer your local regulations — openers, closures, slots — over the anchors, and thermometer plus light will tell you where you are in the story any given week.
