Does moon phase matter for walleye?

There is decent evidence and near-universal guide lore that moonlight shapes the night bite in clear water: around the full moon, walleye can hunt effectively all night, often shifting activity later and shallower, and some trophy trackers swear by moonrise and moonset windows the way others swear by dusk. The honest caveat is that the effect is strongest in clear lakes where light actually penetrates — in stained water, or for fish feeding at 10 m (33 ft), the moon is a rounding error next to wind, forage, and the dusk window itself. Treat moonrise or moonset overlapping twilight as a bonus window worth planning around, not a calendar rule that overrides conditions.
