Do cloudy days help or hurt the perch bite?
Usually they hurt, mildly — the opposite of bass wisdom. Low light is a bass ambusher's ally, but a perch is a sight-grazer with no ambush game: flat, dim light shortens its inspection range, and schools respond by tightening to bottom and pecking more tentatively. Moderate cloud is no problem, and midday under overcast still fishes; but the dark, heavy-sky days that light up largemouth water are often the days perch bites turn microscopic. Downsize and slow down rather than quit.
