Swimming Texas Rig (Swim Worm): What it is

A Texas rig fished horizontally instead of on the bottom: a 4-6 in (10-15 cm) paddle-tail swim worm, speed worm or swimbait body on a 3/0-4/0 swimbait offset hook — screw-lock to hold the nose, or keel-weighted so the weight rides on the hook and no bullet is needed — otherwise a 1/8-1/4 oz (3.5-7 g) bullet pegged so the rig stays together, reeled at a steady pace so the tail thumps. Fully weedless, it swims through and over hydrilla, milfoil, coontail and pad stems that would stop a spinnerbait or bladed jig.
