Titanium-alloy leader

Single- and multi-strand versions exist. Alloy and construction set flexibility; not all are pure titanium.

The line is the only thing between you and the fish: stretch, diameter, visibility and abrasion decide the bite and the landing.

  • PE main line for sensitivity and casting; fluorocarbon leader for stealth and abrasion
  • Nylon stretches like a rubber band — topwater only, never finesse
  • PE size is a diameter label, not a strength: the same PE 1.0 tests 10-25 lb by fibre grade
  • US "20 lb" often breaks at 25; a PE label is tight
  1. Handling and control — Single- and multi-strand versions exist. Alloy and construction set flexibility; not all are pure titanium.
  2. Stretch and recovery — Some products resist kinking and spring back well; not immune to fatigue or fracture.
  3. Colour and visibility — Opaque; titanium does not imply invisibility.
  4. Connections and checks — Follow the specified crimp or knot method; not every titanium leader is knottable. Inspect snaps and ends.
  5. Choice and trade-offs — Often costlier; consider kink resistance under repeated twisting, but hardware still limits service life. Manufacturer source (design evidence, not a universal test)
