Is there a closed season for perch during the spawn?
In most of the perch's range, no — perch are typically open year-round with generous limits, partly because zero nest-guarding means angling does not orphan broods the way pulling a guarding bass can. But "usually open" is not "open where you fish": some jurisdictions close specific spawning bays or tributaries in spring, limits differ sharply between zones (Great Lakes waters often have their own rules), and a few heavily pressured fisheries have shrunk perch limits in recent years. The biology says spring fishing is sustainable; the law is whatever your local regulations say. Check them every season — they change.
