How does latitude change the trout fishing calendar?

Latitude sets both the timing and the shape of the season. Move north and every spring event slides later — a rainbow run that peaks in late March at 42°N peaks in early May at 48°N — while fall spawning slides earlier, compressing the summer between them. But the deeper effect is on habitat: at 40°N natural trout water survives only in mountains and tailwaters and the summer heat-danger window can run three months, while at 48°N whole watersheds stay trout-safe and the 20 °C (68 °F) problem may last two weeks or never arrive. Farther north still, ice season becomes the dominant fishery — lake trout country. Same three species, completely different years.
