Newboro Lake Fishing Guide: Species, Structure & Where Bass Live
A ~4,500-acre, fairly clear Rideau lake with lightly developed shorelines and scattered islands. Roughly 70% largemouth / 30% smallmouth, both to 7+ lb, plus excellent pike by the numbers. A fish sanctuary and catch-and-release culture keep it consistent.
- Weedy bays & backwaters — Largemouth in the vegetation and back bays — topwater, flipping and weedless plastics. Pike ambush the same weed edges.
- Islands, shoals & clean hard structure — Smallmouth on the clearer hard structure around the scattered islands — finesse plastics and moving baits.
Mind the marked fish sanctuary — one of the few in Canada; it is closed water.
