How long should I pause?
Water temperature sets it: 10-30 s below 10 °C (50 °F), 5-15 s at 10-13 °C (50-55 °F), 2-5 s at 13-18 °C (55-65 °F), 0-2 s above that. Post-front high pressure adds time; a chop and clouds take time away. When you cannot stand it any longer, wait five more seconds — the cold-water bite comes on the bait that sat still.
