Does scent matter for muskie lures?
Far less than for most species. Muskie are dominantly visual and lateral-line hunters that run down large, fast prey; smell operates on timescales too slow to steer a burst attack, so scented soft baits and sprays have no credible track record in muskie fishing. Where chemistry does show up is negatively — gasoline, sunscreen, and bug spray on a rubber bait are worth avoiding on principle — and in live-bait fishing, where a struggling sucker broadcasts a full sensory package including scent. Spend your upgrade budget on hooks, not scent.
