Dock: How fish use this structure

Docks offer many small targets

Fixed pilings, floats, boat lifts, and cables form different spaces. Shade only suggests potential ambush conditions; you still need to consider depth, forage, bottom composition, and proximity to deep water. Among several adjacent docks, the one with a drain, old wood pilings, or a lone ladder may fish completely differently from the rest.

Start from the outside to identify paths where you can safely send baits in and out, and respect no-entry areas and boat activity. Practice logging outside corners, shadow lines, posts, and inside walkways separately so you can tell which parts actually produced once you get bites.
