Bridge Piling: Specific hold positions
Check the upcurrent face, side seams, and backside in order
Fish can intercept on the front edge, tuck into side eddies, or sit behind the piling—it’s not always only behind the piling. First locate bait and returns on your electronics, then choose a soft swimbait to pass through the seam or a drop shot to park in the slack.
Example: Under a bridge in 18 feet, target is 8 feet down on the piling’s side. First have the soft swimbait pass just above and in front of them; only targets pinned to the scour-hole bottom need to be hit on bottom. When debris inside the eddy moves opposite the main flow, recalculate your landing spot—don’t still cast straight as if only the main current applies.

Bridge Piling
Vertical concrete or wooden pilings that support a bridge or causeway provide shade, current breaks, and often have riprap around the bases—classic year-round spots.
