Split-tail trailer
A flat, forked-tail slab made to ride behind a bladed jig, swim jig or spinnerbait: it adds profile and a little flutter without slowing the blade.
Soft plastics are the biggest family in bass fishing: 36 shapes, each designed for a rig, a depth and a mood.
- Shape = design purpose: fish, worm, craw, creature, tube, frog
- Finesse tier vs power tier: the same shape at 3.5 in and 7 in is two different techniques
- Tail type decides the action; body decides the fall
- Rig it the way it was designed to be rigged
- What it is — A 3-4 in flat body with a split tail and a thin head that threads onto a jig hook. It has no keel and no paddle — it is a trailer, not a bait.
- Designed for — Bladed jigs and swim jigs where a paddle tail would kill the blade's vibration; spinnerbaits in cold water where a subtler trailer out-fishes a big thumping one.
- Trade-offs — Useless on its own hook.
