Solid big swimbait
A 6-10 in solid soft swimbait on a heavy jighead or line-through — the bait for the biggest largemouth in the lake, fished slowly, for a few bites a day.
Soft plastics are the biggest family in bass fishing: 36 shapes, each designed for a rig, a depth and a mood.
- Shape = design purpose: fish, worm, craw, creature, tube, frog
- Finesse tier vs power tier: the same shape at 3.5 in and 7 in is two different techniques
- Tail type decides the action; body decides the fall
- Rig it the way it was designed to be rigged
- What it is — A large, dense, realistic swimbait body — trout, shad or bluegill — on a 1/2-1.5 oz swimbait jighead, a keel-weighted swimbait hook or a line-through rig where the line…
- Designed for — One big fish: ledges, points, bait schools and grass edges, reeled slowly on heavy casting gear. The size filters out small fish by design.
- Trade-offs — Few bites, heavy gear, and it needs a rod built for it (a big-swimbait rod). Not a limit bait.
