Fluorocarbon overview: Colour
Colour has nothing to do with soft or stiff: one line can come clear or tinted, and tint does not make it stronger, softer or invisible. For choosing a colour, see the line overview · how to choose · step 3.
| Type | How | For | Watch out | Example |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Clear | Undyed | The default | Still visible | Most FC |
| Tinted, pink | Clear base, light tint | Seeing the line above water, managing the bow | Red and pink fade under water; that is not the line disappearing | Seaguar Pink Label |
| High-vis marked | Coloured in sections | Watching drops, side moves and slack; estimating payout | Helps your eyes, not mechanical sensitivity; add a clear leader if needed | Sunline BMS FC |
| Background-matched | Weed, rock or wood colours | Lower contrast against one background | Fails against another background or seen from below; harder for you to see | Sunline background colours |
- Read the full material label: "fluoro-coated" or "hybrid" is usually a nylon core, not 100% fluorocarbon.
