Is a rainy day worth fishing for perch?

Worth it, but expect a quieter bite than on a bright day. A perch is a sight-grazer that needs good light to find small food, so the dark sky that comes with steady rain shortens its visual range: schools tighten to bottom and bites turn into faint pecks — the same effect as heavy overcast, only more so. Light rain with a bright sky behind it changes little. The real damage is runoff: a muddy plume spreading over a flat can shut perch down, so slide to the clean side or a little shallower where more light reaches bottom. Downsize, slow down, add a touch of glow or flash, and fish the brightest hours of the day.
