Why is the line piling up at one end of the spool?
Line lay is set by washers under the spool. Line piling at the top (lip) means the spool sits too high — remove a washer; piling at the bottom means add one. Uneven lay causes loops on the cast and lost distance. Reels come with spare washers in the box for exactly this.
