Can sunscreen on my fingers stop yellow perch biting — which sunscreen should perch anglers buy?

No one has tested it on perch. The documented case is PABA, a sunscreen active that repelled bass in Keith Jones's Berkley research, and most modern sunscreens no longer contain it; for other ingredients the evidence is thin. The practical purchase is a fragrance-free mineral lotion or stick (zinc oxide / titanium dioxide), not a perfumed spray. Wear a UPF hoodie, buff and sun gloves so only the face needs lotion — ice glare burns too — and apply it at home 20–30 minutes before. Perch make clean fingers worthwhile because their bite is a peck-and-taste: the fish samples flavour before committing, and what it samples is tiny. A waxworm, two maggots, a minnow head or a small plastic pinched on by your fingertips carries little scent of its own to drown out yours. Wash the palms with unscented soap.
