How do cold fronts affect walleye?

Less than they affect bass, but the post-frontal pattern is real. The water temperature change from one front is trivial at walleye depths; the damage comes from what follows — cloudless high skies and flat calm, which flood the water with exactly the bright, stable light a walleye avoids. Post-front fish typically slide down the structure a contour or two, tighten to bottom, and shrink their feeding window back toward dusk and dark. The counter is the standard tough-bite kit: fish deeper and slower, downsize to live bait, hold contact with bottom, and lean even harder on the low-light windows. And when the next blow rolls in and puts chop on the water, go back at them — the "front" was mostly the sunshine behind it.
